My job helps me wedding plan.

The wedding is now only 2 days away and I’m feeling pretty confident… About everything! It helps that the organization I work for also has a catering/event production subsidiary company that I receive amazing employee benefits from! Also, being within the company, there’s peace of mind in knowing that dependable people are taking care of the fundamentals: food, booze, decor, flowers, etc.

My job also came in handy while planning this whole shabang. Sure, I had the right people to implement our “ultimate celebration of our love,” but the ideas had to come from somewhere! Admittedly, I never really fantasized about my dream wedding until Jerry proposed. I had no idea of a theme, colors, dress style… anything. Looking at countless photos of other peoples’ weddings, while designing ads and other print work for Best Events, gave me lots of ideas and inspiration.

I work for a local non-profit organization called KANDU Industries, that promotes and provides employment opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Being a part of the Marketing/Fund Development department at KANDU has taught me many useful event planning skills. We plan all of the agency’s fundraising events, so for me, this was just like planning another event. Except this particular “event” is our own, fancy party with everything mirroring our personal preferences.
